BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peeled apple slices
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough onto bottom and sides of 9 inch spring form pan. Combine softened cream cheese and sugar; mix well. Blend in egg and vanilla. Pour into pastry lined pan. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes reduce heat to 400 degrees. Continue baking for 25 minutes. Cool before removing rim of pan.
