MAHOGANY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
3 sq. Baker's Unsweetened Chocolate
1/2 c. water
1 c. whole milk to which 2 tbsp. white vinegar has been added
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Melt chocolate with water over very low heat; blend well. Cool thoroughly, then stir in milk. Meanwhile, sift flour with soda, salt and baking powder. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Beat in vanilla. Alternately add flour mixture and chocolate mixture, mixing well after each addition. Pour into 2 paper-lined 9 inch layer pans. Bake in moderate oven of 350 degrees about 35 minutes. Cool and frost with favorite frosting.
