PEANUT-BUTTER MELTAWAYS 
1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, room temperature
1/2 c. smooth peanut butter
1 c. sugar
1 lg. egg
2 tbsp. water

Pan size 11 x 9 inches. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease pan. Mix all ingredients of crust thoroughly. Put in pan. Bake crust 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and center is firm. Cool completely.

TOPPING:

26 caramels
1/4 c. heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/3 c. chopped nuts

Heat caramels in heavy pan in the cream until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla. Carefully spread over cooled crust. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Spread them in caramels until melted. Chill until firm. cut into bars. Makes 36 bars.
