JAM CAKE 
6 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. butter or shortening
2 c. jam (berry is best)
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. mixed spices
flour to right thickness

Separate eggs and beat. Mix with milk, shortening and jam. Mix in baking powder, soda and spices in approximately 2 cups flour. Mix good with eggs and other ingredients. If needed, add more flour. Pour in floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees until cake springs back when touched.

JAM CAKE FILLING:

4 c. sugar
2 c. sweet milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 lb. raisins, chopped
1 lb. nuts (pecans or English walnuts)

Mix the ingredients together. Then spread over cake.
