DARLENE'S SAGE BAKED PORK CHOPS | |
My family likes these with scalloped potatoes which I bake in the same oven at the same time. A salad and fruit top this one off nicely. 2-3 thick cut pork chops (bone in or bone out) 1 egg 1/2 cup milk (whole or skim, doesn't matter) 1 tbsp. melted butter or oil of your choice (I like olive oil) COATING: 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper (black or white) 1/4 tsp. dry garlic granules (optional) 1/4 tsp. onion powder (optional) 1 tbsp. sage 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Note: May substitute flour for crushed Ritz crackers, bread crumbs, whole wheat flour or Bisquick. Let me know which you prefer! Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix together egg and milk in large bowl. Set aside. Mix together coating ingredients in large Ziploc bag. Dip each pork chop in egg/milk mixture. Then drop into bag with dry mixture and shake to coat completely. In a large covered baking dish, pour in butter or the oil and coat the bottom of the dish. Place pork chops into dish. Try not to let them be crowded. Some touching is OK but not smashed together. Bake covered at 350°F for 50 minutes. Remove cover and bake 10 more minutes to brown the top if needed.
