“ORANGE ROLLS” IS IN:

ORANGE ROLLS 
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
4 tbsp. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. melted butter
orange sugar (see below)

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Combine egg and milk and add to dry ingredients, stirring only enough to moisten.

Turn out on floured surface and knead gently 30 seconds. Roll out to rectangular shape 1/4-inch thick.

Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with orange sugar. Roll as for jelly roll and cut in 3/4-inch slices.

Place cut side down in greased muffin pans and sprinkle with orange sugar.

Bake in moderately hot oven (425°F.) for 20 to 25 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen small rolls.

ORANGE SUGAR:

1 cup sugar
grated rind of 2 large oranges

Mix sugar and orange rind well together. Let stand overnight if possible in covered jar.
