1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 c. water

Mix the first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl. Make 3 holes in the flour mixture. Add vinegar in one hole; oil in one hole; and flavoring in one hole. Pour in water and mix until smooth. Spray a 9-inch square baking pan. Add cake and bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
3 tbsp. soft butter
2 tbsp. hot water or hot coffee

Mix sugar and cocoa, blend butter and water, spread on the hot cake.
