FROSTY APPLESAUCE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 can (8 1/2 oz.) applesauce
1 tbsp. dark molasses
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. whole bran cereal
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts

Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Blend in egg, applesauce and molasses. Sift together next five ingredients and stir into batter. Fold in remaining ingredients. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool and frost with caramel frosting. (5 dozen).

CARAMEL FROSTING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
3 1/2 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar, sifted

Add brown sugar to butter; boil and stir for 1 minute. Cool slightly. Beat in milk. Add confectioners' sugar and beat until smooth.
