MOM'S APPLE PIE 
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
5 c. peeled, sliced apples
2 c. fresh cranberries
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
Pastry for deep-dish double crust 9" pie
Milk
1 tbsp. sugar

Combine 2 cups sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon; set aside. Combine apples, cranberries and lemon rind; sprinkle with sugar mixture. Spoon into a pastry lined deep dish 9 inch pie plate. Roll out remaining pastry and place over fruit; press edges together to seal. Make several slits in top to allow steam to escape. Brush top with milk and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown.
