BEA'S DOUGHNUTS | |
1 rounded tsp. baking soda 1 rounded tsp. nutmeg Dash of salt 2 c. sugar Mix and add: 2 well beaten eggs 2 tbsp. melted shortening Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Chill. Then turn onto lightly floured cloth and roll out. Cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in hot deep shortening until lightly browned. Drain on brown paper. Sprinkle with sugar. Can season sugar with a little cinnamon. Mother was known to do things very quickly. When unexpected company would drop in she would say, "Have a seat, I'll have coffee and doughnuts in 10 minutes." And that she did. |
