NORWEGIAN KRINGLA 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 c. flour

Cream sugar and butter; add egg and buttermilk, mixed with baking soda. Add vanilla. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder. Combine all ingredients and chill. Roll out 1 teaspoon dough lightly with hands on lightly floured board into pencil strips. Form into pretzel shape. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until slightly golden. Do not overbake.
