FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
2/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. dates
4 oz. candied cherries
2 candied pineapple slices
3/4 c. pecans
3/4 c. walnuts

In large bowl, cream together brown sugar and butter until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture, beating until combined. Stir in dates, cherries, pineapple and nuts. Chill batter. Drop by tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
