JOSIE'S SUNDAY SPECIAL | |
4 lb. round steak 8 potatoes, peeled & left whole 5-6 sm. onions, whole 1 bunch carrots 1 #2 can tomatoes 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. flour, to make gravy Beat 1/2 cup flour into meat. Brown meat in frying pan with small amount of oil. If it sticks put a little water in pan and scrape good. Then pour into large pot. Place an aluminum pie pan (upside down) in bottom of pot and place meat on top of pan. Prepare vegetables and place around meat. Pour tomatoes on top and season with salt and pepper to taste. Start cooking on high until it comes to a boil. Turn down to medium low and cover. Cook several hours until meat is tender. Add water if necessary. When done, take vegetables out and serve each separately. Maker paste with flour and water. Start with 1/2 cup flour and stir slowly into boiling broth to make gravy. |
