PIZZA BURGERS 
3 lb. ground beef
Shortening
Celery, to suit taste
Onion, to suit taste
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
1 1/2 can measures water
1 tsp. sugar
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
3 bay leaves
Pinch of basil
Sage leaves, crumbled
Canned pizza sauce to suit taste
French bread, sliced lengthwise in half

Brown meat in small amount of shortening. Add tomato paste, water and seasonings. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add pizza sauce. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes to develop pizza flavor. Mixture should be consistency of a barbecue meat mixture. Spoon meat over French bread and top with shredded Mozzarella. Place under broiler until cheese melts. Bread can be sliced into individual pieces before broiling or after broiling.
