BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. mashed ripe bananas (2-3)
1 3/4 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, sugar, soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Cut in shortening. Add remaining ingredients. Beat until thoroughly blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 1 1/2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees about 15 minutes or until edges are browned. Remove from pan immediately and cool on rack. About 3 1/2 dozen.

15 minutes burned my first batch so I adjusted the cook time to 10 minutes and it was much better.
