POLISH CABBAGE 
1 head of cabbage
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp. shortening

Cut cabbage into thin slices. Put 1 tablespoon shortening, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 2 tablespoons sugar in bottom of pan. Put cabbage in pan on top mixture. Repeat above using the same amount of ingredients until cabbage is used. Cover with water; cook on high heat for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and cook until cabbage is tender. (Cabbage will turn red.)
