1814 ABE HUMBLE LOG CABBAGE STEW 
1 lb. ground meat
2 onions, thin sliced
1 c. cabbage, shredded
1/2 c. celery, diced
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
1 c. canned tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 dash pepper
1 tsp. chili powder

Brown up the beef, then throw in the onions, cabbage and celery. Cook until the vegetables are yellow. Then add 2 cups of water and simmer for 15 minutes. Slip in the rest of the ingredients and continue cooking for 15 to 20 minutes and to give Mrs. Lincoln's stew a continental appearance, serve it topped with mashed potatoes.
