5 lg. potatoes, sliced 1 c. green onions 3/4 c. milk 2/3 c. butter, butter 1 tbsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped or 1 tsp. garlic powder In 8 quart Dutch oven, melt 1/2 of the butter using medium flame. Mix in the salt, garlic and pepper, then when it starts to bubble add the green onions and mix well. Add all of the potatoes and the milk. Use a large spoon to mix potatoes and to turn in Dutch oven. Then add remaining butter, cover and lower flame to simmer. After 20 minutes of cooking turn potatoes in Dutch oven, scraping the bottom of pan, but do so gently so the potatoes won't mush up. Then cover and cook 20 minutes more. Potatoes should be tender when done. |
