BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
Cake:

1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
2 c sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c sifted plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c butter milk
1 tsp walnut flavoring
1 7 oz can flaked coconut
1 c black walnuts
5 beaten egg whites

Cream sugar, butter, shortening, and egg yolks. Beat until smooth. combine dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Add buttermilk and flavoring mix well. Add coconut and nuts. mix well. Gently fold in beaten egg whites with a wooden spoon. Grease and flour three 9 inch cake pans. Pour batter in.

Bake at 325°F for 20 to 25 minutes. Let Cool.

Frosting:

1 8 oz pkg of cream cheese
1/4 c butter
1 box confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c black walnuts

Cream together cream cheese and butter. Add confectioner sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spread over cake.
