AUTUMN APPLE BREAD 
1/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. chopped walnuts
2 c. coarsely grated raw apple

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with grated apple to egg mixture. Stir in nuts. Batter will be stiff. Bake in greased and floured bread pans at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
