CHOCOLATE APPLE BREAD 
2 c. all - purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tbsp. buttermilk
1 c. coarsely chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
6 oz. pkg. (1 c.) Nestle Toll House semi - sweet chocolate morsels

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg; set aside. In large bowl combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in apples, walnuts and Nestle Toll House semi - sweet chocolate morsels. Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Sprinkle with topping (recipe follows). Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.

TOPPING:

2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. finely chopped walnuts

In small cup combine sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. Set aside.
