SHORTBREAD 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in 1 1/2 cups flour. Knead in remaining cup of flour. Pat the dough into a 9x13 inch, ungreased pan. Pierce with a fork shapes (diamonds, squares, etc.) for cutting and sprinkle with a dusting of sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Cut while warm.
