FRIED BANANAS ON VANILLA ICE CREAM | |
This recipe came from Tennessee and is wonderful spooned over real vanilla ice cream. You can serve in crystal bowls for a special dinner surprise. Just he sure to serve immediately. 4 firm bananas 1 cup brown sugar 4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) real butter vanilla ice cream Melt butter in heavy saucepan over medium heat. When melted, stir in brown sugar. Stir constantly and don't allow butter to brown. Turn heat down to low and add sliced bananas. Using a heavy spoon or spatula gently mix and fold bananas into brown sugar mixture just until bananas are heated and soft. Mixture should be bubbly. Do not over heat or over mix the bananas since they will break apart and almost dissolve. You should have a hot buttery caramel topping with whole banana slices. Pour over real vanilla ice cream and eat at once. This is an old Tennessee recipe and absolutely delicious!! Submitted by: LJR |
