OLD SOUTH CUCUMBER LIME PICKLES 
7 lb. cucumber, sliced
2 c. pickling lime to 2 gal. water

Soak cucumbers 24 hours. Rinse in 3 cool waters. Soak again 3 hours in ice water (drain).

SYRUP:

2 qt. vinegar
8 c. sugar
1 tbsp. salt

Stir until dissolved. Pour over cucumbers; leave overnight. Add pickling spice and boil 35 minutes. Put in jars and seal. Add more syrup if cucumbers are not covered while boiling.
