FRUIT COBBLER | |
3 c. sifted self-rising flour 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. buttermilk Fruit of your choice (peaches, apples, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries) 2-3 c. sugar Butter This is the method for making peach, apple, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry pie - any kind of fruit family pie. Place fruit in a Pyrex or metal 9 x 13 inch pan. Place sugar on top and dot with butter. Set aside. Put flour in a large bowl. Add shortening and cut it into the flour with a fork. Add the buttermilk a little bit at a time while constantly stirring with the fork. When this mixture becomes a stiff dough, turn out on a floured dough board (or clean counter). Knead lightly and roll out thin in the shape of the pan - spread dough on top of fruit. Make 3 slits in the crust (dough). Bake at 350 degrees until crust is a golden brown. |
