1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vinegar
6 tbsp. salad oil
3 tsp. vanilla
1 c. cold water

Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and soda into 9 inch square ungreased pan. Make 3 wholes in dry ingredients and pour vinegar, oil, and vanilla equally into each whole. Pour 1 cup of cold water over cake and stir VERY WELL with fork, making sure all lumps disappear. This is important. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes; let cool in pan and frost.
