SWEET & SOUR SMOKED SAUSAGE | |
This meal I figured out in a "pot luck" attempt, I got lucky cause it is very good! The best part is it only takes 30 minutes from start to finish! Which is great when you have children. 1 (1 lb.) pkg. smoked sausage 1 pkg. stoplight peppers, chopped (orange, red, & green) 1 onion, chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped 1 cucumber, chopped (only if you desire a pickled taste) 1 (12 oz.) bottle sweet & sour sauce (Kraft) quick-cooking (instant) rice (enough for amount of persons being served) Chop sausage, peppers, onion, tomatoes and cucumber (if desired). Note: the cucumber turns into a "homemade" pickle. Sauté vegetables in skillet to desired tenderness (drain ALL excess liquid!) While sautéing vegetables fry and brown smoked sausage. Once vegetables are finished and drained and your sausage is finished and drained, mix together in large skillet and pour entire bottle of sweet and sour sauce in mixture. Prepare your rice while sausage and vegetables are soaking in the sweet & sour sauce. Once rice is finished lay a bed of rice on your plate and add your vegetables and sausage atop Enjoy! I usually make some egg rolls on the side to go along with the dish. I have found that "Pagoda" is the best store brand, not unless you shop from the "Swan Man". Submitted by: Jennifer Hanson |
