OLD FASHION JAM CAKE 
1 c. raisins
Dash of salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. walnuts
1 c. blackberry jam
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. coconut
1 c. mixed nuts
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 box confectioners' sugar
1/2 stick butter

Cream butter and sugar together until light. Add beaten eggs and maple flavoring. Beat until thoroughly blended. Sift together flour and salt. Stir baking soda into buttermilk. Add flour alternately with buttermilk to the first mixture, beating after each addition. Stir in blackberry jam. Cream together last 3 ingredients. Fold into batter. Add nuts, coconut and raisins. Pour batter into 3 (9-inch) layer prepared cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Frost.

ICING:

1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. water
2 stiffly beaten egg whites

Cook brown sugar and water until soft ball stage. Add to stiffly beaten egg whites along with 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
