2/3 c. lard or Crisco
1 2/3 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
2/3 c. cocoa (not baking chocolate)
1 1/3 c. cold water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Put all ingredients in large bowl and beat with mixer until batter is smooth. Place in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. butter
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. baking chocolate
3 tbsp. coffee or milk

Beat well.
