OLD TIME BEEF STEW 
Heat 2 tablespoons fat in a Dutch oven.

ADD:

2 lb. beef, cut in 1 1/2" cubes, brown
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 clove garlic
4 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. paprika
Dash allspice

Simmer for 2 hours or until meat is almost done.

ADD:

6 carrots, chopped
1 pkg. sm. onions
4 potatoes, chopped

Simmer 30 minutes or until done.

MIX IN SHAKER:

1/2 c. water
1/4 c. flour

Shake hard to blend. Push meat and vegetables to one side and stir in flour mixture. Stir until gravy thickens and boils. Cook on low heat for a few minutes.
