HEARTY BEEF STEW | |
2 lb. stew beef 8 carrots, cut into 1" slices 8 celery sticks, cut into 1" slices 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes 1 (8 oz.) tomato sauce 1 lg. onion, chopped 2 slices old bread, cubed 1/2 c. cooking sherry 4 tbsp. tapioca 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. salt Dash pepper, thyme, marjoram, rosemary 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup 1 pkg. frozen green beans 1 pkg. frozen peas 3 cans sm. whole potatoes Brown meat in a small amount of vegetable oil; drain off any excess. Combine all ingredients except beans, peas and potatoes. Bake in a 250 degree oven for 4 hours. Next add green beans and bake for 1 more hour. Last add peas and potatoes; bake 1 final hour. (Total baking time = 6 hours.) |
