HEARTY BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. stew beef, cut in 1 inch cubes
5 carrots, cut in 1 inch pieces
2 med. potatoes, cut in 1 inch pieces
1 lg. onion, cut in small chunks
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 qt. tomatoes or 1 lb. (12 oz.) can
1/2 c. quick-cooking tapioca
1 whole clove or 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 bay leaves
Salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in crock pot. Mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on low 10-12 hours. Serve with baking powder biscuits.
