MATRIMONIAL BARS (EA) 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. melted butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt

Mix together well. Put half of batter in bottom of loaf pan.

FILLING:

1 lb. chopped dates
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar

Boil water, dates and sugar 5 minutes, use as filling, top with the balance of batter. Brown in moderate oven. Cool. Cut in squares.
