BUTTERMILK ROLLS 
2 pkgs. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. scalded buttermilk
1/2 c. melted shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
4 1/2 c. flour

Scald milk. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, cooled to lukewarm. Add sugar, shortening and salt; then flour and soda sifted together; mix well. Let stand 10 minutes. Roll out and cut or shape. Let rise until double, 30 minutes. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
