ENGLISH TOFFEE | |
1 c. granulated sugar 1/2 lb. butter (Church's or Prairie Farms preferred) 3 tbsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla 6 reg. Hershey bars (plain) 3/4 c. chopped pecans Place first 4 ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring all the time to prevent burning. Cook until brown (310 degrees on candy thermometer). Pour into buttered 7 x 10 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch pan. Lay Hershey bar on hot mass when it will support the weight of the bar. Smooth chocolate when melted add pecans on top and press into soft chocolate. Cool and break into pieces. |
