SILKEN GOLD CAKE 
1/2 c. lard
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar, 3/4 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. milk
6 egg yolks
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Combine lard, salt, and vanilla. Add 1 cup sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Dissolve 3/4 cup sugar in milk. Beat egg yolks until very thick and light in color. Add to creamed mixture and beat thoroughly. Sift flour and baking powder together 3 times. Add with milk and sugar mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Pour batter into 2 nine inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes.
