GOLD RUSH CHOCOLATE SPICE CAKE 
1 c. Ghirardelli ground chocolate
1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

In mixing bowl, sift together chocolate, flour, sugar, spice, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in center; add butter, milk, and vanilla. Mix to blend, then beat 5 minutes on high speed of mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour into greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan lined with waxed paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until baked in center. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan. Frost with chocolate frosting, if desired.
