GREEN BEANS 
3 lb. fresh green beans
1 (2 inch) cube salted pork
1/4 c. bacon greased
Salt to taste
Water

Break green beans into pieces and wash thoroughly. Put the green beans into a large kettle and add enough water to cover the beans. Add salt, bacon grease, and salted pork. Cook for about 2 hours on low or medium heat or until the water is cooked out of the beans.

If you can't have pork, you can use 2 cans of chicken broth instead of the pork or bacon grease.
