FRESH APPLE CAKE 
4 c. diced apples
2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

1 c. candied cherries
1 c. pecans
1 c. dates

Add dry ingredients to apples, then add vanilla and eggs last. Mix all together. (Do not use mixer.) Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Mix 2 tablespoons butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar with enough milk to make a paste; spread over cake while warm.
