CRACKED WHEAT BREAD - VICKS 
1 c. cracked wheat
6 to 7 c. white flour
1 c. cold water
1 c. hot milk
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 c. molasses
1 1/2 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water

Soak wheat in cold water overnight. Mix milk, salt, shortening and molasses, add yeast that has been softened in lukewarm water. Add 2 cups flour and beat 2 minutes. Add cracked wheat and rest of flour as needed. Beat 10 minutes, knead.

Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double. Punch down and divide in 2 loaf pans, let rise 1 hour to double. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, turn down to 350 degrees and bake 30 to 35 minutes longer.
