Mixed some sausage and garlic cloves with the hamburger/onion mixture for some added flavor. Cooked for one hour before adding the cheese topping...then added cheese and cooked 20 minutes more to make sure the potatoes were done. This recipe is a keeper for us.

My Mom used to make this, but she boiled the potatoes before she added the rest of the ingredients. That cut down the cooking time.

Since I cannot have spices in my diet it is difficult to find good recipes, especially hamburger without onions. I wondered about green beans and celery soup together, sounded bland, but this recipe is wonderful for me. I did add some salt to the potatoes, re the comments, added american cheese after the potatoes, skipped onion and garlic, used evaporated milk (because I was out of regular) and little more cheddar cheese on top. Baked an hour re comments. I will fix this often. Thank you so much.

This was yummy!!! I made it with ground deer meat seasoned with montreal steak seasoning and moore's marinade, and I substituted peas and corn for green beans. Definitely a keeper in my house and really took the gamey flavor out of the deer meat!

I made this last night and it was a hit! i also baked it for 1 hour instead and good thing i did cause i still had a couple spots where the potatoe was a lil crsip.. Oh and make sure you season the potatoes with salt and peper really good before you put the hamburger ontop.. yummy!

I made minor changes: I cooked the hamburger in two cloves of garlic, salt and coarse ground pepper; put this over the sliced potatoes; green beans; sliced onions; then cream of mushroom soup mixed with the milk. Covered the dish and baked for 45 minutes. Then I uncovered, added the cheese on top and baked another 10 minutes until the cheese melted and was slightly browned. New recipe for me and very tasty.

Tips: Season potatoes and bake for 1 hour to ensure potatoes are cooked all the way through. YUMMY!

This has become a weekly favorite at our house. I make it differently each week, though... tonight I've substituted mushroom soup for the celery and peas and corn for the green beans. I have also used sliced carrot. I also add a sliced sweet potato. I double the onion and I season the meat with Montreal Steak spice. Mmm good. Thanks for a yummy easy meal.
