BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sour milk
2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved
1 c. boiling water

Combine sugar, salt, shortening and eggs. Beat for 2 minutes. Add vanilla, sour milk, flour and cocoa. Beat for another 2 minutes. Then add the boiling water, in which is dissolved the baking soda. Beat for 1 minute. Turn into greased and floured sheet cake pan.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.

(Note: To make sour milk, add 2 tsp. vinegar plus sweet milk.)
