GRANDMA'S HOT ROLLS
1 c. milk
1 cube yeast
1 c. flour
1 c. warm water
2 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1 heaping tbsp. lard
1 tbsp. salt
1 beaten egg

Scald milk; set aside to cool. Add yeast to warm water, stir until lumps are gone. Add sugar. Slowly stir in flour. Cover with a towel and set aside for 1/2 hour. Add cooled, scalded milk.

Mix sugar, salt and lard together. Stir in egg. Add this mixture to the above mixture. Then add enough flour to make dough stiffen, but still sticky. Set aside to rise again for about 1 1/2 hours in a large bowl.

Shape into rolls and let rise again on a greased cookie sheet (sides of pan should be greased too). Rolls should touch each other lightly. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. Butter tops while still hot.
