2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 level tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
2 c. water
4 scant c. flour
2 c. raisins

Cook all together until boiling, except flour and baking powder. Let cool and add the rest.
