1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips 3 oz. chopped pecans or walnuts 3/4 c. melted butter 14 oz. pkg. caramels Evaporated milk (sm. can) Mix the cake mix with the melted butter and 1/3 cup plus 1 tbsp. evaporated milk. Press 1/2 the mixture into a 9x13 greased and floured pan and bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Melt the caramels with 1/3 cup plus 1 tbsp. evaporated milk over low heat; stir frequently. (You can even use the microwave to melt caramels.) Sprinkle the chips and nuts evenly over the baked cake mixture, then pour caramel over all. "Dab" the remaining cake mix over the caramels (don't try and spread it). (Make little globs close together.) Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and cut. Wonderful! |
