1/2 c. shortening
1 stick butter
1 c. water
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1/4 tsp. salt

Bring to a boil first 4 ingredients. Then add the rest of ingredients. Grease cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. While baking, make frosting.

FROSTING:

4 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook very well until almost boiling. Add 1 pound powdered sugar. Spread on hot cake while frosting is hot. Poke holes in brownies before frosting.
