CONGO BARS 
1 stick butter
1 lb. brown sugar
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. self - rising flour
2 tsp. salt
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Melt butter and mix with brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time; stir in flour and vanilla. Add chips and nuts. Mixture will be stiff. Spread into a 10 x 15 inch pan (greased but not floured). Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into bars. Note: if using plain flour, add 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
