FIG COBBLER
5 c. figs, peeled and halved
2 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. each ground cinnamon and nutmeg
1 tbsp. butter

In a lightly greased 10 x 6 x 2 inch baking dish, arrange figs evenly and sprinkle with the lemon juice. Mix the flour with the spices and sugar and sprinkle over the figs, then dot with pats of butter. On a lightly floured surface roll out pastry to 1/8 inch thickness and cut into 10 inch strips, about 1/2 inch wide. Put over figs in a lattice work pattern, like a top pie crust. Trim the edges all around, then bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes 6 servings.

Fig Cobbler

 Carol (United States) says:
Very good cobbler since I was at a loss as to what to do with our figs! I wanted something besides jam, so made this cobbler. But I will tell you that peeling the figs is absolutely not necessary! Just make sure the stems have been completely removed and the figs are washed good.
