GINGER COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
4 tbsp. molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add egg and molasses and beat. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Roll in balls, dip in sugar (granulated) and flatten out. Drop a few drops of water on each and bake at 350 degrees 7 to 10 minutes.
