HERB DROP COOKIES | |
1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 egg 1/2 c. molasses 2 1/4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 3 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/4 tsp. salt 1/3 c. hot strong coffee 2 tbsp. anise see 2 tbsp. crushed coriander seed 2 c. confectioner's sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Milk Combine shortening and sugar. Beat in egg. Stir in molasses. Sift together flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Add to creamed mixture with coffee. Mix thoroughly. Stir in anise and coriander seed. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. Mix confectioner's sugar, vanilla and enough milk to make a spreading consistency and frost cookies. Top with a walnut half if desired. Makes 3 1/2 dozen. |
